Impressions on the Theatre project by Educo

On Tuesday 22nd January we took part in a court drama and other students attended a CLIL course about History of Art an Music. We met a young boy and two girls who are native speakers. Their purpose was to make us interact as much as possible and try to communicate together having English as a common language.
We started looking at the various components gathered in a court after a crime had happened to judge a criminal. We had to explain (in our own words) who the judge, the defense lawyer, the criminal, the witness… are and what their tasks are when they gather in order to declare a criminal guilty or not guilty.
Then we discussed about things that are legal or illegal; we were divided into three groups, in each group there were three lawyers who defended the criminal and other three who accused him of being guilty.

Finally we played a very nice game, we had to find out who stole a necklace. We asked questions to the three suspects and a student had to discover who the criminal was.
It was a short but intense experience which helped us interact and negotiate ideas and opinions using only the English language and it tested our ability. We could experience a learning activity having fun and not worrying about notes or whatever mistakes we could make.
