ETwinning second round: Gigli’s students present their school to the Turkish classmates

Continua l’avventura del progetto eTwinning all’istituto superiore “Lorenzo Gigli”.

The name of our school is “Lorenzo Gigli” High School. It is situated in Rovato, a small city in the north of Italy and it is a big school; infact, there are more than 1.000 students. There are two main sections: Lyceum and Vocational Training High Schools. At the end of both students can enroll at University.

Our Lyceum, Liceo delle Scienze Umane, is very hard and our teachers are demanding. We have to study a lot when we come back home from school and there are written and oral tests every day.

The school year is divided into two periods: one lasts three months ( from September to December) and the other five months ( from January to June).

Our days at school are very long and difficult, in fact we stay at school six hours on Monday and Tuesday. While on the other school days lessons last 5 hours, but on Saturday we stay at home because we have school from Monday to Friday.

We chose this school as we don’t like Maths and we don’t attend too many Maths classes a week.

On the contrary, we like studying Italian, History, Latin – even if it is very difficult -, Human/Social Sciences, Biology, Geography and we also love English. There is only one subject which is not compulsory: Religious Education.

Our school offers a lot of extra clubs such as journalism, cinema, drama, language certifications, help desk, music and art. They are all free and a student who decides to attend these courses stays at school in the afternoon. We have fun during these extra clubs and we have the opportunity to meet new people and to cooperate.

Our school is inclusive; that’s why we like it.

Would you like to know why we chose Lorenzo Gigli High School, let’s listen to what our classmates wrote:

“I attend Lorenzo Gigli Social Science High School. – Gaia said – I always want to help people and to discover and understand human feelings. Even if i don’t like children, I have chosen this school because I love listening to the other people and analyzing their situations. I’d like to working with disabled people ,too because I think that they can give us and teach us a lot of things. I’m happy to attend this school because it’s a great school, quite big and open to everyone”.

I like my school because I think it gives me a lot of opportunities like a junior band, dance, swimming, theatre and once a month there’s cinema where students can watch some films in English. – Greta stated – Lorenzo Gigli Institute has a lot of students so you can make new friends. I also really like that in our school people with disabilities are welcomed and helped, some schools don’t do that and I think that isn’t correct”.

I study lots of subjects: Social Science, Italian, Maths, Science, Law, Latin, History, Geography, P.E, R.E and English of course. – Giulio declared – We start lesson at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. I go to school from Monday to Friday. I love Social Science and Latin. In my school there isn’t a canteen so I always have lunch at home but there is a café where I go when I have a break at 10.50. I chose this school  because I love the subjects we study here. It’s a little hard but I like it”.
